Where to Stay in Parga

Parga, nestled on the northwest coast of Preveza, is a picturesque seaside town that you just can’t miss. Just a 27 km journey from Sivota brings you to this quaint village perched at an elevation of 139 meters on the Pezovolos hill, cascading down to the stunning Ionian Sea. Facing the island of Paxoi, it’s a breathtaking sight.

This traditional settlement is a beloved summer hotspot, though it’s equally enchanting in winter. The beachfront and the winding cobblestone alleys of Parga paint a charming picture.

Right across the city, within the sea, lies the Island of Panagia. This island is a historical treasure trove with medieval and Venetian structures, crowned by the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

For years, Parga has been a favorite among tourists. It offers a plethora of accommodations, from hotels to rental rooms, making it a fantastic choice for summer vacations—especially for families traveling with kids, since you can skip the hassle of ferries.

But where should you stay?

1. Parga Town, best area to stay

Parga is truly the hub of activity. Here, you’ll find everything you could possibly need—from a variety of accommodations and shops to restaurants, taverns, cafes, and a few bars. Stretching from the seaside and the harbor up to the top of the hill, Parga city center is ideally situated for staying close to the action.

The highlight of Parga, for me, has to be the medieval Parga Castle, perched majestically on a hilltop overlooking the sea. You can reach this impressive site via narrow streets and staircases leading up from the harbor—an adventure in itself.

For a dip in the sea, head to Kryoneri beach (sometimes marked as Ai-Giannakis on Google), right in the heart of Parga. This organized beach is the perfect spot to swim out to the charming islet of Panagia.
