How to go to Syros

By Ferry: Syros is well-connected to the Piraeus port with daily ferry services, including both conventional ferries and high-speed crafts. The journey can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, making it a scenic and relaxing way to start your holiday.

During the summer months, there are also about three weekly sailings from the port of Lavrio, which last between 3.5 to 5.5 hours. These trips offer a delightful detour through the islands of Kea and Kythnos.

By Plane: For those who prefer a quicker travel method, Syros also has an airport, the Syros State Airport “Dimitrios Vikelas”. It welcomes daily direct flights from Athens. This is my go-to method for reaching the island swiftly, and you can often find some great deals on flights to Syros.

  1. Thank you for all of the information about Syros. My husband and I are planning to spend 9 nights on the island and have booked a hotel in Ermoupoli, but I am now wondering if we should split our time between there and Kini. We are not planning to rent a car. Many thanks for your time.
